Birthdays, BBQ & Brenham
July 13th 2004 by cybertoad in re-capsWow! I had a busy weekend but I was unable to get a chance to post yesterday! Sorry. Here is the weekend re-cap!
Friday night: I had too much to do at home to get ready for the BBQ party I was hosting Saturday afternoon so I told Kenny I was staying home. I worked hard and took care of a lot of little things like starting laundry, washing dishes, cleaning up my office (I filed paperwork for the first time in 6 months), cleaning up the kitchen, dusting the house, cleaning up the patio… I was on such a roll that I did not get to bed till 4 AM!
Kenny had bought me a cool new computer case so he installed all the “guts” from the old one into the new one for me and it looks sooooo cool now! It’s metallic blue with a clear plexiglass side so you can see inside. The design on the front has a circle that glows blue and then there is a fan right in the middle of the clear plexiglass side that glows both red and orange.
Saturday: I got up early and started my long list of errands while Kenny headed to the dentist. I picked up dry-cleaning, went to the grocery store (twice because I forget to read part of my list), went to Home Depot to get a gift card, swept the house, prepared the chicken and hamburgers for grilling and in general cleaned and got everything in order for our 20 guests. My mother also came and she prepared the chicken salad while I ran around the house.
Saturday night: The BBQ was set for 5 PM so guests started arriving soon after. The occasion was to celebrate four birthdays
: Kenny’s (the 8th), EJ’s (the 5th), Lawrence (the 12th) and Tom (the 19th – Kathy’s husband). EJ’s wife, Sherry – a wonderful cake decorator – made four little cakes each with a theme appropriate to each guy’s personality. They looked and tasted great!
Everyone had a good time, the food was devoured and the guests were gone by 11 PM so we had the house to ourselves again. I could finally sit for a little bit!
Sunday: since Kenny was finally certified he could now take me up flying with him so he had made arrangements to rent a plane for us from 10 Am – 1 PM. The clouds were a bit low but we were able to still go. Lunch was at a wonderful 50’s style diner at the Brenham Municipal Airport about a 30-40 minute flight from Houston. I’ll give more detail and post pictures in a separate entry in the next day or two.
Sunday afternoon: After our return we met up with my friend Daniel who is moving to Germany at the end of the month. He wanted our help in picking out a laptop and digital camera so we spent the evening doing just that. After walking through many stores at the mall and helping him spend lots of money we headed out together for a yummy sushi dinner.
As you can see Kenny and I hardly had a chance to relax all weekend so when Monday rolled around I was very, very tired. It didn’t help that a bout of insomnia hit me and I was unable to get to sleep till past 4 AM Sunday night. I called in to work and told them I was coming in an hour late so I could try to squeeze one more hour of sleep in. Somehow, I survived the day though! *yawn* I hope you guys got more sleep than I did during your weekend!
