Party, stampin’, Matt Damon & lantanas
August 9th 2004 by cybertoad in re-caps*Whew* Another weekend has flown by! I had fun with friends, slept in, worked in the yard, met new people and spent some time with the hubby. I’m still tired though!!
Friday night: Stopped by the pool hall and visited with Kenny’s friends, ran to the mall to take advantage of a 50% sale AND tax-free weekend discount on my favorite sandals (I already have dark blue and black… now I have new pink ones) and met back up with Kenny’s co-worker and his wife for dinner.
I was running late for a party so I rushed home, changed clothes
and headed back out at 10:30 PM. I was a bit nervous because I would only know three other people (Cathy – the girl who invited me – Matt and Sarah) and it was a completely different crowd than I’m used to. Turns out I had a great time and was one of the last to leave at almost 3 AM. I’m glad I went out!!
Saturday: I had intended to do a few things early in the morning but since I had a late night I stayed in bed and slept. Made it on time to Kathy’s first Stampin’ Up workshop over at Christine’s and spent the rest of the afternoon there. You did a great job Kathy!
Saturday night: Kenny took me out to dinner and afterwards we went to see The Bourne Supremacy. As expected, Matt Damon did not disappoint. Jason Bourne is such a wonderful character – I hope they make it a movie series like the James Bond movies but I don’t know if the story line could be stretched out that far.
Sunday: Slept in even later and finally was motivated to run out and go to the nursery like I had planned to Saturday morning. Kenny was still gone (he had left earlier to get some owrk done with his boss) so when I came home I finally went to work on the front yard. Since the small oak tree we had in the front got sick and had to be cut down, the lantana that had been underneath had gotten sun burned and was looking horrible. It was scraggly and just looked atrocious and had to go.
Little did I know that lantanas that have been growing a few years grow some long-ass roots systems and become shrubs. I yanked out about a dozen of these, most of them requiring a garden fork to loosen them up. The branches were long and scratchy too. Working alone, with the heat and sweat pouring into my eyes, it took me a while to pull them out and clean the mound up but I did it!! I took breaks from lantana-pulling to do some weeding out there and to trim the shrubs so they are nice and round again. My front yard finally looks a bit less wild.
This endeavor took most of my afternoon and evening so afterwards I just plopped down on the couch, had dinner and headed to bed soon after. Today I am sore all over – my back and legs are stiffening up as I sit here at the computer and my arms are a bit itchy from the superficial scratches (as well as being sore too). It’s painful but it also feels good to know I worked so hard although I may not be very thrilled during salsa class tonight!

From my understanding they may make at least one more Bourne movie … I think it is called the Bourne Legacy …

You had a busy weekend indeed. Sounds like you enjoyed yourself even doing the gardening.

I think that so far the Bourne movies have been based on a trilogy of books. The author died after he finished the third one, so I don’t know if they’ll extend it or not.
