It’s finally Friday!
March 4th 2005 by cybertoad in generalIt’s a beautiful day here in Houston
, the boss is out of town, the other boss hasn’t come in yet (and we are hoping he’ll decide to stay away) and best of all, it’s Friday. A co-worker brought in Krispy Kreme donuts and since the office is so quiet today (a couple of people are out), some of us are going to try to head out to lunch together (typically they like to have at least one of us here at all times but we are protesting today…LOL).
So what’s up with me? Since I love lists, I’ll give you another summary one…
Work is going really well. I fit in and my bosses tell me I am doing great. I feel so much more comfortable here and more motivated to do my job than I have before.
I am still taking salsa classes (it’s been over a year now) and last week went out with classmates. I had a blast dancing with a classmate. He really opened up on the dance floor and we danced really well together! Now Kenny and I are considering taking tango classes. They start in about a week… I’ll keep you posted!
This past weekend we also enjoyed an evening of theater when we joined friends to see Arthur Miller’s The Crucible at The Alley. We hadn’t gone to the theater in a while so it was nice. Plus, Sunday night tickets were only $19! In a few weeks we are seeing Mamma Mia and I am looking forward to it.
I have been pretty exhausted from work so the house has suffered. Last night I got home a little early so I laid down on the couch. Bad idea – I never got back up and ended up playing hooky and skipping salsa class! I was just so tired and the dogs were on top of me, half asleep. I ended up taking a 3 hour nap and woke up around 9 PM. I knew I’d have trouble getting to sleep so I got up and finally finished my laundry, did the dishes (yay, the sink is empty and clean again) and cleaned up my office. I can see my desk again and most of my paperwork has been filed away. Yay! I also found the last couple of documents Kenny needed to do our taxes – the house taxes and my unemployment benefits tax summary.
I still have cleaning up to do this weekend. I am hosting next week’s garden club meeting at my house for the first time and I need to get it ready for the Tuesday meeting. I’ll spend Sunday doing that!
Today I am just feeling good. I am more energized than usual despite going to bed at almost 3 AM. I think it’s a combination of work going well + getting some stuff organized at home (laundry, dishes, office) + great weather (sunny with a high of 70 F).
On a more personal level, I am still doing good on the weight loss. I am maintaining my weight despite not eating as well as I should (remember the Krispy Kremes?). I do expect to get myself back on the treadmill this month though and see if I can’t lose 2-3 more pounds and keep my metabolism up. My biggest worry is that my body will get used to this weight and I’ll start gaining again despite eating somewhat better.
On another front, I can’t decide if my Strattera is helping me or if I am just doing better because I am enjoying work. For now I’ll just say it’s a combination and I’ll continue to stay on it. I have had no side affects like I had with Wellbutrin so I’ll stay on it as long as my doctor thinks it’s OK.
Wow, looking back I see I have made this a long post! Sorry but I guess I just wanted to catch everyone up. I hope you guys are doing well and still come by once in a while! Have a great weekend!!

Gosh, I wish I could find a garden club in my neck of the woods. I know that good feeling that comes from a good job experience! Have a great weekend!

Let me know if your garden club does flats of flowers again this year; I need some bouganvillas (sp?) and I think some vincas, and maybe some impatiens. I’m going with a bigger variety of colors this year, so I’m really excited and ready to start planting!
I’m so happy to hear the great feedback on your job! Sounds like it is a fabulous fit.

I was taking 80mg of Strattera for awhile and I cut back to 40 and I’m feeling much better. 80 was making me really lethargic at work (and when you work overnights, that’s really bad).
Boy and I are considering taking salsa lessons to surprise everyone at our reception in October. it’s just a matter of finding the time and scraping up some money.

my son Alex takes Stratter and it really makes a difference for him. The only thing is he has a reduced appetite and I almost have to remind him that he needs to eat now and then.
