New category: Toad Theater
March 13th 2006 by cybertoad in moviesSince I already have a category for my book reviews (“Toad’s Library“), I’ve decided to start a new category titled “Toad Theater” where I can group my mini-reviews of the various movies we watch, either via NetFlix or in the theater. Here are some recent movies we have watched…
11:14 (NetFlix): This was in Kenny’s queue and I didn’t think I would be that interested but it drew me in. It’s a storyline where everyone involved affects everyone else in some form or fashion. A wonderful example of how our seemingly mundane actions can have a much greater affect. A potentially confusing storyline was well done… I never felt confused but also never felt like I had the story exactly figured out.
Madagascar (NetFlix): Any animated movie nowadays that hits the big screen is always wonderful done and funny. Madagascar is no exception. Not as good as Bugs or Toy Story but still delightfully fun. Oh, and the penguins steal the show!
Lord of War (rental): I really don’t like Nicolas Cage. He is sleazy to me and I don’t typically like his characters either but I must admit, this was a very good role for him and couldvery well be my favorite. Despite the way it was marketed, this is a heavy hitting movie, not comedic in nature. If you are interested in current world affairs and aren’t naive to the fact that barbaric acts happen every day – no matter where you stand on the political line – this could be a good movie for you.
