Ginger Update

I realized that I hadn’t given you a doggie update. Remember Ginger’s lump? Well, we took her in Tuesday morning to have it removed and to go ahead and have her teeth cleaned too. The vet called and said that the lump ended up being just a fatty deposit and that no biopsy would be needed. As dogs get older fatty deposits under the skin are common – Ginger has several similar lumps on her stomach – but the vet agreed it was in an odd place and that is why she had wanted to have it cut out.

As for her teeth, the vet says they were bad too but none had to be pulled so that was good. She was happy to be home and was very perky and more energetic than Heidi had been. She shows no pain where her stitches are (she has a handful). You can poke the area and she doesn’t seem to care so that is good. It’s been a couple of days though and where the stitches are as is looking “lumpy” again but Kenny says it may be some swelling that is occurring while it is healing. We have to take her back in next week to remove the stitches so I’ll talk to the vet about this. Click on the picture to get a bigger image – that is a picture of her that evening.
