The weekend re-cap returns!

Posted by cybertoad on 07/17/2006 in re-caps |

Yay… I am sure you missed my weekend re-caps so they are back! Click the extended entry to read more because I had a really great but busy weekend…

Friday night: I headed over to Christine‘s to help her assemble the IKEA furniture she bought as part of her bedroom re-design. I got there a little late so I didn’t leave till 2:30 AM. The assembly of the queen size 4-poster bed was an adventure to say the least. LOL. But it seems that Mike loved the redesign upon his return so yay!

Saturday: We had a whole day planned out with our friends Susan & CJ… it included trying out a new restaurant (Dragon Bowl), geocaching (more on that later), and going to the Museum of Natural Science to see this exhibit.

The restuarant was not bad – food was very tasty but they are still getting their act together in the kitchen and they only offer half of their menu. Hopefully they will figure it out because I’d like to return…

Geocaching turned out to be quite an adventure! We found 3 out of the 4 we sought out, one was a nice large traditional cache, not just a micro-cache with a log. The 4th cache though we searched among the thick brush and mud to no avail, completely drenching ourselves in sweat and getting scratched and bitten by mosquitoes only to go home and read that it seems that the cache is most likely missing (the cache owner de-activated it the next day after I logged our visit and says he will look into it). Kind of disappointing.

Since we were so sweaty and grungy and it was already 4 PM, we skipped the museum and headed home to clean up.

Saturday night: We joined Susan & CJ once more and headed to dinner at another new restaurant (Steamboat House) and to the movies afterward. We all had free tickets so we watched the new Pirates of the Caribbean. It was good but the story was a bit hard to follow. Still, Johnny Depp sure looks damn good in eye liner and eye shadow… *swoon*. 😀

Sunday: Had yet another full day… Kenny & I had lunch at yet a another new restaurant (if you are counting, this is the 3rd new place in one weekend), this one in The Montrose called Aladdin. It was actually really great Mediterranean food and will definitely go back. After lunch we went our own separate ways and I headed to the Bayou Bend Gardens for a photo excursion. I was once again overwhelmed by the heat after only 30 minutes. 🙁 Afterward I went to Tropioca for a Houston Flickr-ites meet-and-greet I organized. I didn’t think that many people would show but we had a nice group. Thanks to irees, j-a-x, texanfan, groovehouse, mrp1001, kaydeecee and Vanessa for showing up – and to Kathy for stopping by as well!

I finally got home, took a nice shower to clean up, took a short nap and watched the rest of the Rescue Me episodes we had tivo’ed (we are now caught up! )… As you can see it was a long but really good weekend and I haven’t been able to slow down since Wednesday. I have a busy upcoming week as well but it feels good to be on the go…

So how was your weekend?

Bummer – I wish I had made it to the Flickr-ites meetup! Keep me posted on the next one and I will be there! (I need to be better about following the groups. I know.)

Thank you, thank you, thank you again for all of your help with the furniture. I couldn’t have done it without you, and I *love* the new room!
