Random Babbling

Posted by cybertoad on 07/19/2006 in misc |

In no particular order, random thoughts & comments… Sorry but I have to make up for my month-long hiatus so it’s another long entry. 🙂 Click on more to see the entry.

> These fruit snacks are addictive! It’s hard to eat just one! And they are so fun to unroll!!

> I actually found some clothes that fit me last night at Target. My husband usually can’t walk out of that store without some new article of clothing but I struggle to find anything that fits my body shape at Target. Not last night… I bought 2 cardigans, perfect for work, this cute, sexy vest (on sale for a mere $5!!) and a super-comfy black dress that is a bit low-cut but I can wear a colored tank top underneath and wear it to work (made out of soft t-shirt material and also on sale for $10) and yes, I finally got on the style bandwagon and bought some gaucho style pants in black (not these but similar, mine aren’t as wide-legged). They were on also sale ($10 as well), they are very comfy (feels like you are wearing pajamas) and the black hides my flaws the material may try to point out… I am actually wearing the gauchos and one of the cardigans (in a nice champagne color) today.

> Last night it was oddly quiet in our house because we did not turn on the TV until almost 11 PM and then just for about an hour or so. Instead Kenny played his PC game while I had dinner with an old co-worker and when I got home we both felt industrious and started to clean up the kitchen and sort through the mail. The dishes are essentially done, counters cleared and wiped down and I even potted three new indoor houseplants to replace a couple that had not made it (the window boxes are filled with plants once again, no more ugly gaps).

See, we are having a group of friends over Friday night so I am using that as motivation to tidy the house back up. A little work each night and the list is whittled down. Last night I was able to check a few more things of the list and it felt better than coming home and just sitting on the couch all evening, which is what I really wanted to do!

> Speaking of plants, my new 3-tier plant étagère (I did not buy the rounded corners, just the larger rectangular piece in the middle) arrived last week and I finally put it together Monday night. It was very easy to do and no screws were needed, just a mallet. I now have most of my potted plants on the étagère including my 4 orchids, neatly arranged, and they look so much nicer than scattered all over the patio. I still have pots that did not fit on there but it looks so much tidier. Plus, the etagere was a bargain. Somehow I got it for only $40, about half of anywhere else I had been considering. Since I was re-arranging I also re-potted and threw away dead plants I had neglected. Some plants looked dismal in their pots so they found a spot in the garden bed. I was sweaty and dirty and I worked out there till it was dark but it looks much nicer. I ran out of potting soil so I have two more plants to repot. I also want ot break out the pressure washer and clean off the rings that are now visible on the patio after the re-arranging (note to self: buy pot risers to avoid this in the future).

> I have discovered reed diffusers! There is one of these in our bathroom here at work and it smells wonderful. It’s been smelling good consistently for over a month yet has not been refilled, is not overpowering and actually looks pretty sitting out on the counter. It would be perfect for our small toilet cubby that has always been a issue with us. There is no plug in there for those plug-in air fresheners, the battery-powered fans left something to be desired and every stand-alone air freshener I tried lost it’s punch within days (and was ugly).

Some Google-searching later and I found out what they were called. I was going to order a starter kit (bottle, fragrant oil and reeds) on-line but as fate would have it I found a kit last night at CVS when I was waiting for my prescription to be filled so I bought it – it is lemongrass coriander and smells very fresh, perfect for the small space. If it works I have another cute bottle I can use elsewhere in the house and I’ll buy my own fragrant oil and reeds online separately. I want to try the gardenia and freesia oils.

OK, enough random babbling! Have a great day!

  • Christine says:

I’ll have to look for my fragrance oils for you. That site says they can’t be used, but the fragrance oil supplier says they can. You know my love for the strong florals. 😉 I need to give them to you so they have a good home!

Pier 1 sells them also, but I didn’t look to see what scents they had when I was there the other night.

  • I am going to have to look into the reed diffusers! Sounds like it will work in a couple areas in our house.
