2007 Mesker-Garcia Holiday Letter

Posted by cybertoad on 12/25/2007 in personal |

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!
Hope it has been happy and full of love!

I thought I’d share our holiday newsletter below the jump…. enjoy!

The Basics: Another year, another letter! We all continue to be well; Kenny, myself and the pooches, Ginger & Heidi (now both 14 years old and going strong with a clean bill of health). Kenny and I celebrated 9 years of marriage this year as well. Man, we’re getting old! Yes, Kenny continues to play pool and for me, my photography has been taking most of my spare time (more on that later).

Career: This is the first year in a long time where neither one of us changed jobs! Kenny continues at Diverse Networks (DNI) as Director of Engineering and I celebrated a year at Luby’s in June. I am very happy there and even had the opportunity to travel to Tucson and Northwestern Louisiana for the first time.

On the Brooklyn Bridge, duh... Travel: We found a ticket deal to NYC that we could not resist so we headed off to the Big Apple in May. We had a wonderful trip, great weather and I can’t wait to go back. We hit the major landmarks, caught some comedy shows and did a lot of walking. As you can well imagine, I had a blast with the camera and shot over 1000 pictures over those five days!

Bridge into Darkness Photography: Christine, my photography partner, has successfully made it her full time career and through her support and experience I have ventured into the world of freelance photography in my spare time. I regularly work as Christine’s second photographer at wedding & events and independently complete various other small projects for local clients. We continue to have a booth at the Yale Street Market Art Market every First Saturday as well where we sell our artwork. Contact me if you need any portraits, commercial or event photography!

Artistically speaking I was also honored to have been asked to help coordinate a local photography exhibit focusing on Houston. The exhibit was extremely successful and it was made even more special because I had two of my photographs selected to be part it (by a panel of 3 jurors)! The image to the right was one of the photographs selected.

2008 promises bigger & better things and Kenny and I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year!

Elaine, Kenny, Ginger & Heidi

I hope you had a great Christmas. It was so interesting reading this letter because I already knew all this stuff. I remember when you took that trip to NYC. I find that very cool. Cheers to a Happy New Year.
